This is why you feel lost in your life (How to get clarity on what you want)

If you often feel like you're just wandering through life, not sure where you're headed, this is for you.

If your future feels like a big question mark that gives you a pit in your stomach, then keep reading.

By the end of this, you should feel a sense of relief and have a clearer direction for your life.

You know that feeling when your attention is being pulled in a hundred different ways?

That's what distractions do. Apps, messages, emails —they're all like players in a tug-of-war game, each trying to pull your focus their way.

And yes, even as I write this, I'm one of those players.

But my goal is different—I hope to guide you towards a path that feels right for you, one you're excited to follow.

The Secret of Purposeful Living

You've seen those people who seem genuinely happy with what they're doing, right?

The ones who enjoy each day and radiate positivity. They wake up excited to start the day and live an inspired life. Their secret?

They've taken the time to figure out what they want from life.

All the discomfort you feel comes from not being able to sit quietly by yourself.

People often don't like what they find when they're left alone with their thoughts.

That's when questions about life start to creep in. Thoughts like, "I haven't achieved enough" or "I'm nowhere near where I should be" start to appear.

And that's when you feel that heavy knot in your chest, that sickly feeling in your stomach as if you've swallowed a bag of cement.

Your heart pounds, and your thoughts race, spinning out of control.

I get it. I've been there.

But using distractions as a quick fix is like putting a band-aid on a knife wound. It doesn't solve the problem, it only prolongs it.

Facing the Real Problem

The real problem is feeling stuck. A sense that you are not progressing in life.

That each day blends into each other. 6 months then go by and you realise you are in the same position you were before.

Just like a tuna fish needs to keep swimming forward to keep oxygen flowing and stay alive, you need to keep moving forward in your life to feel alive. If you're not making progress, it can feel like you're slowly dying inside.

That's why taking action solves this problem.

Taking action is like starting a journey on a long hiking trail.

At first, you might feel overwhelmed looking at the vast path ahead, especially when you're standing still.

Every step you take helps you make progress on your path. It eliminates negative feelings and replaces them with positivity and purpose.

But if you're always distracting yourself, you won't know what actions to take. It's challenging to move when you don't have a destination in mind. You need clarity to be able to take action.

Journey Towards Clarity and Change

So, here's an exercise to help you figure things out:

Grab a pen and three pages of A4 paper. Turn your phone on do not disturb mode (even better throw it out of the room). Make sure there's nothing else to distract you for the next 20 minutes.

At the top of the page, write this:

"Who would I be in the absence of all my concerns?"

Your task is to keep writing whatever pops into your head. Don't stop until you've filled all three pages. Don't edit your thoughts—just let them flow. If you run out of things to say, write that down.

The goal of this exercise is to get everything out of your head and onto the paper.

It begins to empty all the negative thoughts you have and allows space for new ideas to enter your mind.

These new ideas will be like a breath of fresh air. They will open your mind to the potential of who you could be in the absence of all your worries and concerns.

But remember, nothing changes unless you change. No one is coming to save you. Captain your own ship or let the storm direct you.

The choice is yours.
